The footsteps fade, the patrol departs, the people sigh and clutch their hearts. But as they stand, flushed with relief, three loud knocks, sharp and brief.
A voice calls out, distorted, stern, the people retreat, desks overturn. They crouch down low as the knocks come again, and suddenly silence
